With the implementation of the code of conduct for the Gorakhpur municipal elections, the district administration has come into full-fledged election mode. On one hand, the district administration intensified the preparations for the elections. At the same time, the Municipal Corporation started taking down banners and posters from different areas of the city. In this election, 13.66 lakh voters will decide the future of the candidates. Of these, 10.48 lakh voters will be responsible for the election of the Mayor.

With the implementation of the code of conduct, now there has been a brake on new projects in the municipal bodies and municipal areas. On the other hand, due to non-issuance of work orders, some works will now be able to start only after the formation of the city government.

As soon as the notification was issued by the Election Commission, the district administration started preparations on late Sunday evening. Notification will be issued at the local level on Monday. About 125 ROs and AROs will be imparted training at Annexe Bhavan Auditorium on Monday. Training will be given by ADM Finance and Revenue Rajesh Kumar Singh and Master Trainer Manoj Kumar.

Training will be given to Returning Officer (RO) and Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) from Monday. After this, sector and static magistrates will also get training regarding elections. About 10,000 polling personnel will be put on duty in this election.

Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Singh Sogarwal said that as soon as the notification for municipal elections was issued, the Municipal Corporation has started the work of removing banner-hoardings of political parties engaged in the metropolitan area. Instructions have been given to compulsorily remove the banner-hoarding within 24 hours. On the other hand, five teams of the corporation continued the action in different areas till late night.
